Beach Look for Homes

Making your home have a beach chic look can be easy. The beach design is focused on moderation and relaxation. It can bring the feel of tropical summer into your household interiors. When decorating your abode with a beach design, pick a colour palette. You may go for reddish tones from coral to rust, greenish shades from grey green to bottle greens, or bluish hues from cloud blue to steel blue. Match the hardness of wood accents and softness of woven materials. You can get rattan furniture pieces like chairs, sofas, and coffee tables. You can also place wooden bookcases, desks, and cabinets. To lighten things up, bring out white throw pillows and cushion covers. You may also paint your walls and ceilings in warm white (not hospital white). Some stylish window treatments that match your wall colour should be used such as a seashell curtain or chime. You may go for striped curtains, but avoid fussy patterns. Whenever possible, rely on natural light.

The best thing about beach chic interior decoration is that you do not have to spend a lot for it. You can bring out your collection of beach stuff such as seashells, corals, sands, and pebbles. You can decorate with seashells without overdoing it. If you have a collection to boast about, you may display them for all to see. Smaller shells look perfect in a shadow box, while larger ones look best on a glass rack. Scoop sands, pebbles, and shells and layer them inside a large, clear jar or vase. Randomly gather your other beach collections and place them inside a flat basket, which you can use as a centrepiece on various surfaces.

Shopping for Lady Swimwear

Contrary to popular notion, any girl can look good in a swimwear. A bathing suit comes in varying styles, patterns, fabrics, and colours. You should consider these elements when shopping for a bathing suit. If you have smaller chest, get a bathing suit that has stripe or floral patterns with padding or push-up for that extra lift. If you have a larger bust, go for halter tops because they provide extra support and let you show off your shoulders. You may also wear spaghetti tops that accent your chest and shoulders. If you have a curvy middle area, get a one-piece swimsuit, which ruffles around the stomach for a slimming effect. Avoid low-rise bottoms if you have love handles. Wear mid-rise bikinis, instead, to draw attention to your legs. If you have larger bottoms, avoid swimwear with patterns; dark-coloured bottoms, which are low-rise and high-leg cut are perfect for you. Freely match the dark bottom with a fancy top. For those with athletic bodies, get a bathing suit that gives an illusion of curves such as bottoms with wide waist bands and wide shoulder straps.

You may want to know about the jargons related to female swimwear. A bandeau bikini is a strapless bikini top that ties in the back. A bralette has adjustable straps going over the shoulders. Boy shorts are like boy’s briefs, covering up the back area. A halter top has straps tied behind the neck and in the mid-back. A hipster bottom cuts straight along the hips. A low-rise bottom sits right below the hip bone. A monokini suit has its top and bottom connected, while showing off the sides. A tankini is a bathing suit with a tank top and a bikini bottom. A swim dress is a one-piece suit with a mid-thigh length skirt.

Moalboal’s Marine Life

Marine species

Popularly famous as the best diving destination in Cebu, and among the best diving hotspots in the Philippines, the municipality of Moalboal is certainly a haven blessed with gloriously white sand beaches, great underwater caverns and rich marine life. This paradise boasts a wide variety of marine species and amazing underwater ecosystem that are just waiting for divers to be discovered and admired. In fact, the waters of the Philippines and Moalboal are noted to home more 2,500 species of fish.

Moalboal’s surrounding dive spots, such as the House Reef, Sunken Island and Pescador Island, are abundant with sponges, corals, and colourful fish species. In the House Reef, the huge schools of trevally (a type of fish), tunas and mackerels are a sight that every diver should see. Whale sharks also visit this artificial reef in some cases.

House Reef – Lion Fish

For underwater photographers, the best place to take photos is the Sunken Island. The area’s strong water current does not prevent many divers to visit this place for it is where large species of fish and other marine life take refuge. Among the fish species that can be found in the Sunken Island are lion fishes in various sizes, frog fish, barracuda, pelagics, Spanish dancers, and blue triggerfish. Occasionally, sharks and manta rays can also be spotted in the area.

Perhaps, the best diving spot offered by Moalboal is the Pescador Island, which boasts an extremely rich marine ecosystem that harbours some of the highest levels of biodiversity in the world. Nearly 70% of fish species in the Indo-western Pacific can be found in Pescador island, and among these species are turtles, frog fish, Nudibranch and reef fishes. Other marine species that can be found in Moalboal’s coastal waters are eagle rays, turtles, devil fish, white tips, groupers and moray eels.

Rehabilitation program

With the rising number of tourists visiting the area for diving, the local government recognised the tourism and economic potential of marine resources and its beautiful diving spots, especially the Pescador Island. Tourism has become the main economic driver of Moalboal municipality, which used to be largely dependent on the fishing industry.

In respond to the need of the tourism sector and the need to protect its marine ecosystem, entrance tags and tickets are issued to those visiting the place for snorkelling and scuba diving. The Moalboal Marine Park entrance fee system, which was implemented beginning January 2007, charged a one-time fee of US$10 or P500.00. The entrance tags and tickets can be purchased through the operators of marine tourism or ticket counters, and enforcement of the entrance fee system is carried out via spot checks in land or sea, so it is must for every one to carry their tickets all the time.

The entrance tags and tickets are managed by the Municipality of Moalboal and the Moalboal Dive Centre Association (MDCA) – the latter was especially created to oversee the diving activities in the area. The proceeds and funds earned from the sale of entrance tags and tickets are used to finance a number of conservation and rehabilitation programs in the municipality. These programs include village development programs, waste management and disposal programs, marine conservation and public education, reef and mangrove rehabilitation, and marine patrols to abolish destructive fishing.
